Good Things To Good People

I have many smart and talented friends.  And sometimes it's nice to have the chance to be proud in a public manner, to do what my tribe calls kvelling.  So, here are a few of my friends doing awesome, poety things:

One of my best-ies, Leslie Harrison, will be featured on Garrison Keillor's "The Writer's Almanac," on November 16, with her poem "The Day Beauty Divorced Meaning."

Rebecca Morgan Frank's debut poetry collection, Little Murders Everywhere, is now available for pre-order at Amazon.  So many of us have been waiting for this book from a poet-editor-scholar (learn more about her literary journal Memorious here).

And Eric McHenry's collection of children's poems, Mommy Daddy Evan Sage, will be released from Waywiser Press on November 16 (love these!).

Sandra Beasley's fantastic memoir, Don't Kill the Birthday Girl, is a nominee for the 2011 Goodreads choice awards, in the "best food & cooking" category.  Go place a vote for her at Goodreads!

Erika Meitner is always writing something interesting, sassy, and informative.  I love her recent article about the experience of judging debut poetry collections.  Read it here.

Meanwhile, one of my former students Alyse Bensel has been publishing up a storm:  poems, book reviews.  Today an MFA in poetry, tomorrow the world!  Here are some of her recent reviews at one of my favorite poetry websites, NewPages.

And another recent Washington College graduate, Lindsay Lusby, is carving out her own space in the twin worlds of poetry and letterpress.
