Stateside, Again

After my recent--oh so traumatic--brush with a negative review, I was really grateful to see David Abrams' response to Stateside on his blog, The Quivering Pen.  I was especially glad to read this new response to the text because Abrams is retired U.S. military and can speak with authority about how very difficult military marriages can often be.  Here's a little taste of his review:

Speaking personally, as the soldier who slipped quietly out of the dark bedroom after brushing my lips across my wife's cheek on the morning I left for Iraq, the poem "Before the Deployment" is as accurate as they come.

I first starting reading Abrams' blog, about a month ago, when he posted a review of Siobhan Fallon's terrific collection of short fiction, You Know When the Men Are Gone, a book that has very justifiably received significant and glowing attention for its treatment of the lives of military spouses.  You can read more of Abrams' work here.
