A lot of people have already entered to win free books. But, if you haven't signed up yet, I've posted information about the giveaway below:In honor of National Poetry Month, I am excited to participate in Kelli Russell Agadon's brilliant scheme: The Big Poetry Giveaway, 2011!
On May 1, I will be giving away two signed copies of my latest book Stateside as well as a copy of C. Dale Young's Torn.
Here's what you need to do:
- Write your name and email address in the comment box below.
- Wait until May 1, when I will do a drawing of names from a bowl/hat/kitchen sink.
One person will win two poetry collections (Torn and Stateside), and a second winner will receive a copy of Stateside. I'll pay for postage and all that good stuff.
That's all there is to it. So, enter now!

So Much Hate
Whites against Blacks
Daughters against mothers
Sons against fathers
Brothers against sisters.
Why so much hate?
Where is the love for one another
Where the morals and the guidance?
Where is the unity and peace?
Where is the security and brotherhood?
Where is this nation headed?
When will be united as one family
When will prejudice and racism be erased?
When will neighbor truly love his neighbor?
When will Martin L. King’s dream come true?
It starts with the golden rule,
“Loving others as you love yourself.”

How can I refuse?

While I would appreciate having my name drawn from a bowl or hat, I would be ecstatic to have it drawn from the kitchen sink. (Or maybe you could compromise by setting the bowl in the sink?)
